Holiday Party Planners
Promoting student responsibility and collaboration is an important aspect in our classroom. Students must learn to work together in a group in order to accomplish a task. It’s a lifelong lesson!
Students this year will be in a group that will be responsible for planning either the Halloween, Christmas, or Valentine’s Day party. A lot of times, when all the students bring in snacks for each party, we are left with tons of candy and five different kinds of cupcakes and after passing out all of those snacks, there’s no time for any games or activities. When only a third of the class is bringing in items, it makes for a much more manageable holiday celebration.
About two weeks before each holiday party, the party planning committee will get together (during recess or free time) to start discussing what they want to do for the party. Each student will decide what they want to being in as a snack. The group will decide which kind of games or activities they want to do. Parents of the planning committee may also send in ideas as well.
Parents of each party planner will receive a reminder within two weeks of the class party.
